Silk for Summer

Vince Skirt

Summer has hit big time and I’m struggling to find stylish – not boring af – stuff to wear to work.

I ended up digging up out a lot of my silk pieces, which have been perfect for hot afternoons. If you’re looking for more silk clothes lie robes, nightwear, and dresses, be sure to check out https://rosefulbright.com.

This is me in my insanely clean work bathrooms!

Wearing:

Grana Silk Crew Neck Tee – Bought this top on a whim and am constantly surprised that I keep reaching to wear it. It’s perfect to wear in a professional context, because it looks sharp, but still has that casual vibe.

Vince Wrap Skirt – This skirt is so beautiful. It’s like luxurious liquid metal when I move.

Isabel Marant Leo Flats – I bought these on clearance sale and absolutely love the look of them. But I’ve found that they rub my feet the wrong way. Every time I wear them I’ve had blisters from the lace rubbing against my skin, so I’ve tried different ways to tie them. As you can see pictured above, they are supposed to be criss-crossed, but they look more like regular ballet flats.

A.P.C. Bag – My go-to everyday handbag (currently on sale).

Everlane’s Authentic Stretch High-Rise Skinny Jeans – In All Colours!

King Street - Everlane Jeans

About a year ago, I made a plan to look for a pair of sustainable, earth-friendly and ethically produced jeans, fall in love with them, then buy them in ALL colours.

Over time, I would slowly replace all my regular jeans with sustainable ones.

That was the plan!

I ended up buying some Authentic Stretch High-Rise Skinny Jeans from Everlane, in Mid-Blue.

Read my full review here.

That was 10 months ago. I absolutely LOVED THEM and so yep, I bought them in Black, White, Washed Grey too.

Not sponsored, I bought them all myself.

Everlane Jeans

I’ve had the black, white and grey jeans for a few months now (sitting together with my Mid-Blue ones). I’ve worn them all and washed them all.

And here are a few reasons they are awesome:

1) They are all super comfy – I even wear them to work.

2) They fit perfectly – I bought all in Size 25. I am Size 25 in all my designer jeans (Frame, Acne, Levi’s, Rag&Bone etc)

The black pair is slightly tighter and the fabric is not as soft as the rest, but still fits great.

3) They are cropped at the ankle so I don’t have to get them altered. I’m short (I’m 160cm).

4) They have genuinely slim ankles so they taper with my leg. Short girls will know when they buy skinny jeans and get them shortened, the resulting “ankles” don’t taper because they are the size of a tall girl’s “calves” ha!

So we have to pay extra to have them tapered at the leg, which usually ends up costing the same price as the jeans themselves.

5) Price. I think the best bit is how affordable these jeans are – AUS $103.

I feel a bit funny saying this, but it kind of feels too cheap for sustainably and ethically made jeans. I feel I should be paying more… but at the same time if they were priced any higher than say $170, I probably would think twice about purchasing them in all colours.

They don’t seem to be selling this style in the White anymore, but they have just released Dark Blue Wash and Deep Indigo.

Anyway, if you’re looking for sustainably and ethically made jeans, do check these out – I totally recommend them!

Finding 30 Minutes to Exercise at Work

Walking at Work

Ever since I started my new job (three months ago), I have been struggling to find time to exercise.

(Geez that sounds so cliched.)

Ahh I used to be so fit!

I used to cycle 80kms in the morning and go for a light 5km jog in the evenings! I used to run 15km every weekend and wind down with a hot yoga session! Who was that person?

Now I’m completely wiped out by a 2km run and need a 2 hour nap.

Yeah I feel regret and deep annoyance that I have to start ALL OVER again.

Buuut at the same time, I know it won’t take long to work up my fitness. And the actual trick is to… Just start, today.

So how do I get 30 minutes of exercise at work?

Brisk walking and stair climbing.

My new job involves me sitting in front of a computer for 8 hours a day. So I make sure I take a walk and climb some stairs during my lunch breaks. I do some light stretching in the evenings. And I go for a run on the weekends. It’s not much at the moment, but at least I’m starting somewhere :)

In Love With Rixo

Rixo Dress at CultStatus

Wearing a loud, colourful dress to work, because I can!

My office dress code is very casual and everyone usually wears jeans, tee and sneakers.

But I have waaaaaay too many lovely clothes sitting in my closet… so I gotta let them see the light of day.

This is my Chelsea Dress by Rixo, courtesy of Shopbop. I love LOVE the bright, bold pattern and style – it’s so unusual. It’s cut perfectly and falls so effortlessly, I adore wearing it.

It’s probably a great dress to wear to a wedding, but hey, sneakers make any outfit look casual enough for work.

Also wearing OAK NY leather jacket (also from Shopbop)

Converse Sneakers

Proenza Schouler Mini bag

My Winter Work Wear Edit

Work Wear - Week 2

Hellooo 5°C mornings!

I’m in my second week of working in the city and gosh it’s cold!

All my dreams of a fashionable working wardrobe has been put on hold – because all I can manage in the mornings is a combo of : jeans, jumper, blazer, coat, scarf, boots, repeat!

I put together a Winter Work Wear Edit, featuring some items I’m in love with, to mix and match with my staples, courtesy of Shopbop.

These are the things I WISH I could wear, but who am I kidding, I might have to wait a few more months to wear those gorgeous kitten heel slides.
