Fragipanis

4 April 2015

My husband is a sweetheart. But sometimes he’s a bit crazy, in a daggy, sweetheart kind of way.

Years ago he decided that he wanted our backyard to be full of frangipani plants, and in each colour available.

It was a long term project. He had to buy some plants in different colours, he knocked on people’s door asking for cuttings, we may have stolen a few cuttings. Then we had to grow the cuttings, wait for them to flower – which sometimes took years!

Finally, we have 4 colours which we are really happy with!

Frangipani White
White. This is the most common variety. They are hardy and so easy to grow; just stick a branch cutting in a bucket of sand, and water it every now and then!

Even though you see these white  fragipanis everywhere, I still adore how fresh and happy they look!

Frangipani Pink

So many people ask for a cutting of our pink fragipani tree, and we happy to give them. But they are really difficult to grow and sometimes it takes 3 years to flower, and most of the time they look like a dead stick in a pot.

Frangipani Orange

Vibrant orange/pink/yellow. Crazy mixture of colours, I don’t know if they are orange or yellow sometimes.

Frangipani Dark Red

Oh these are my favourite! Deep, dark pink. They look so moody.

We still have an orangey-red one which we are hoping to flower soon!
