My husband and I recently went to watch the movie, The Water Diviner – a story about an Australian father who travels to Turkey in 1919, to find his three missing sons who fought in the Battle of Gallipoli.
While I don’t usually talk about the movies I watch, I was very struck by this one.
It is a cinematic drama with adventure, romance and a touching storyline; it’s about loss and hope, and it has a certain lightness to it, despite dealing with some pretty heavy issues. It is quite different to all the other war movies that fill our cinemas these days. I really liked it.
I also really enjoyed the beautiful cinematography and amazing locations!
One of my aspirations is to visit Turkey and Istanbul one day and visit the mosques, palaces and museums. Seeing bits and pieces of the landscape and interiors in the movie only amplified my desire to travel!
