What I Wore: Pillowcase Chic

2 July 2014

Pillow Case Chic

I don’t like to wear shapeless clothes. It makes me feel short, it makes my legs look short (my legs ARE short), and I just feel like an out-of-proportioned dumpling.

Most times I will tuck a loose-fitting top into my skirt or pants, so I don’t look like I’m wearing a potato sack. This will highlight my waist, therefore give a visual clue as to where my body stops and my legs begin. I feel this makes my legs look longer and it best highlights my petite proportions.

While I think it’s important to dress for your body shape… I have to admit, I’ve been a bit bored with my “usual look”.  Sometimes it’s just FUN to break the rules I set for myself.

So recently I’ve decided to experiment with a different silhouette.

I went waist-less. I channeled some pillowcase chic!

I chose a top that was breezy and loose-fitting. This one has a gorgeous strap detail which balances out the flared hem nicely. (Thin straps are also very on trend at the moment!) My skirt is a mini tulip skirt with polka dots. I adore the muted, two-toned colour combination and the splash of white from my sneakers.

The ensemble is so cute and matchy, it looks like a sophisticated summer dress!

Have you played with a different silhouette recently?

Or are you a safe-dressing shorty like me?! :)
