Being a mother of 3 young children, I’m pretty busy from the MOMENT I WAKE UP in the mornings. I’m all GO GO GO!
However I always make it a point to have some kind of morning beauty regime, to put on (at least!) a bit of make-up and to make sure I look presentable.
My beauty regime has changed over the years. When my children were newborns, my method was more “slap and dash”.
But nowadays my children are getting a bit older, they can get dressed on their own and pour their own cereal in the morning, so it gives me 10 extra minutes in the morning to look after my skin.
So my regime has settled into a really nice place – and this summer, it is all about hydration and sun protection.
When I wake up in the morning, I like to use a very simple and gentle cleanser.
I also like to use organic products where I can, and I really like Sukin Organics.
I have bought and tried a LOT their products (facial scrubs, shampoos, body creams, lotions, oils), mainly because they are so affordable and they smell nice. Mind you, some of the products I don’t like or are just not effective for me.
I use the Sukin Foaming Facial Cleanser, it’s really gentle and doesn’t dry out my skin.
It’s not very effective for a deep cleanse, if you’re trying to wash off a full face of makeup. But if you’re just washing off some tinted moisturiser or you’ve just woken up, this is perfect.
After cleansing, I use the SK-II Facial Treatment Clear Lotion like a toner.
Then apply a few drops of SK-II Facial Treatment Essence all over my face.
And then I use a bit of SK-II Stempower, which is a moisturising cream. The packaging makes it look like a rich, night cream, but it is actually light, smooth and hydrating without being greasy, and can be used for day and night.
For the last 4 weeks, I have been testing out these 3 products together, using them morning and night. In the past, I have used the Facial Treatment Essence and the Clear Lotion before, but this is the first time I am using all 3 products together.
The results have been… great! I don’t know if the impressive result has been a combination of my new year resolutions to exercise more, drink lots of water and eat healthier… but it seems to be working for me – in a very good way.
My skin feels hydrated, it looks clear, seems to have an even skin tone and texture, and my cheeks feel just that little bit firmer and plumper than before. So much so, I actually feel happy to go out of my house with no foundation or concealer on :)
I do use a bit of tinted moisturiser and powder, which leads me onto the next few products in my regime.
I use Mecca’s In A Good Light, which is a tinted moisturiser with SPF30+. It has a very light and creamy texture that glides nicely over my skin, and leaves my face feeling well hydrated.
It only comes in ONE colour, which I first thought was very strange. I thought that since Mecca was an Australian brand, it would cater more for Caucasian skin tones? But nope, it looks gorgeous on my olive skin colour. It give me a nice sheer coverage and gives me a kind of fresh, healthy and warm glow.
Then I finish off with a bit of Napoleon Perdis Camera Finish Powder all over my face.
Sweet and simple!
