My 81 year old mother-in-law passed away peacefully a few days ago.

She had been ill for a long time, so it was not a shock.

It is a big relief that she is no longer in any pain or discomfort.

The very first time I met her… she told my husband to marry me.  So I liked her right away :)

She was an amazing, talented, super-woman kind of woman, who made (and decorated) my 3 tiered wedding cake in 2002, sewed her own dresses, crocheted her own blankets, cooked up a storm, did the book-keeping for her husband’s business and raised 4 children.

My husband’s entire family is here, and we are all very busy preparing for her funeral on tomorrow.

My own mum and dad are cutting short a holiday to fly back in time.

I have not had a close family member die while I have been an adult, so I don’t really know what this is going to be like.

But even so, I can feel this is going to be big.

Very big.
