My 8 year old collects cockroaches.
He puts them in Chinese takeaway containers and leaves them on the kitchen counter. He gives them each a little biscuit, a leaf, and a twig.
I ask him WHY??? OH WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME??????
Apparently his Science teacher has a frog who likes to eat cockroaches.
The frog prefers cockroaches that are alive. And those which haven’t eaten poisoned baits. So being the kind lad he is, he has taken it upon himself to feed this frog… fresh, clean cockroaches.
Sigh. I guess it’s kind of cute.
My son also insists that the cockroaches must be kept HAPPY, hence the food (biscuit) and light entertainment (a leaf and twig).
I lightly asked my son how he came to be familiar with popular cockroach leisure time activities, to which he replied, “Well, what would you play with if you were a cockroach? You have to think like a cockroach mum.”
