Foam Things

21 September 2006

The other day I was at a craft store, looking for cool things for the kids to glue. And judging from the amount of wall space dedicated to pre-cut foam shapes, I suspected it was the “new craze” in scrapbooking these days.

Eeep, they were so expensive! $8 for 12 foam circles! My kids are used to gluing sticks and leaves! They may as well glue money!

Anyway, I went to Crazy Clarks and found a HUGE packet of foam shapes for $4. Awesome I tell you! The kids had so much fun playing with them. From gluing, cutting, threading, then painting and drawing over them, pretending to cook with them, filling up their dump trucks with them, and colour + shape sorting.

OK admittedly, as you can see, some of the shapes were really munted and badly cut. Animals were missing heads. Some were tragically deformed. And some (as our housemate put it) looked like Miyazaki characters. But I think it just added to the whole charm of cheap foam.
